• New Hope Center for Grief Support in Northville offers grief support groups throughout metro Detroit. 248-348-0115. The service is Christian-based but welcomes all faiths.

• Heartland Hospice Center in Ann Arbor offers twice-monthly meetings for widows and widowers. The meetings are in Ann Arbor, Canton and Monroe. 888-973-1145. Anne Christensen is the bereavement coordinator.

• On Our Own is an independent volunteer support group for widows and widowers that meets on the fourth Monday of each month at Milford Presbyterian Church, 238 N. Main St. in Milford.
